Question 1

How does booking on Syria Inn work?

Accepted Answer

Pick a place, your dates and the number of guests, and book. Hotel rooms are confirmed straight away. For apartments and other homes you send a request and the host confirms, usually within 12 hours and always within 24 — you'll get an email as soon as they do, or if they can't, and your dates are held for you meanwhile.

Question 2

Can I book on behalf of someone else?

Accepted Answer

The account that makes the booking is responsible for it, and the identity details entered must be accurate — they're used to verify you on arrival.

Question 3

When do I get the exact address?

Accepted Answer

The exact address is sent as soon as your booking is confirmed. Before that, only the general area is shown, to protect the host's privacy.

Question 4

What if my group is larger than a listing allows?

Accepted Answer

Every listing sets a maximum number of guests, and a booking can't exceed it. Choose a listing that fits your group's size.

Question 5

How do I pay for my stay?

Accepted Answer

You pay the host directly — either cash on arrival or via a wallet transfer (Syriatel Cash or MTN Cash). No charge is ever taken through the site itself.

Question 6

Can I pay by credit card?

Accepted Answer

No, the platform doesn't currently support card payments, due to sanctions-related restrictions on Syria. Cash or a phone wallet transfer is the available option.

Question 7

What currency are prices shown in?

Accepted Answer

Prices are shown in US dollars or Syrian pounds depending on what the host set, and converted automatically between them for a consistent comparison or sort.

Question 8

Are there discounts for longer stays?

Accepted Answer

Some listings offer a discount for a weekly or monthly booking — the discount percentage shows on the listing page when one applies.

Question 9

How do I cancel a booking?

Accepted Answer

Open the booking from "Trips" and choose cancel. The listing's cancellation policy at the time you booked is what applies.

Question 10

What cancellation policies are there?

Accepted Answer

Every listing uses one of three policies (flexible, moderate, strict), which set how much is refunded based on when you cancel. See the Cancellation Policy page for the full details.

Question 11

What if the host cancels a confirmed booking?

Accepted Answer

A host cancelling a confirmed booking is recorded on their account and affects their standing to keep hosting on the platform.

Question 12

When can I leave a review?

Accepted Answer

Once your stay is complete (after checkout), you can review it from the "Trips" page.

Question 13

Why doesn't my review show up right away?

Accepted Answer

A review appears within 48 hours of being submitted, or as soon as the other side reviews your stay too — whichever comes first. This double-blind system keeps either side from being swayed by the other's review before submitting their own.

Question 14

Why is my name shown masked in reviews?

Accepted Answer

To protect your privacy, your name shows as its first letter followed by a fixed mask, like "A**** M****", everywhere your review appears publicly.

Question 15

How do I become a host?

Accepted Answer

Start from the "Become a host" page: verify your email, add your legal name, ID and contact phone, and accept the hosting policies. You can then publish a listing straight away. Our team reviews each listing before it goes live, and checks your identity when they review your first one.

Question 16

What documents do I need to register as a host?

Accepted Answer

An official ID document. Proof that you own the property or have the right to rent it out is optional, and is added per listing. Including it helps your listing get approved faster.

Question 17

How is the platform's commission calculated?

Accepted Answer

For every completed stay, the host owes Syria Inn 8% of the stay price (the nightly rate × nights, after discounts; cleaning fees aren't included). That includes the 5% service fee the guest pays on top. It builds up as a balance in the host dashboard, to be paid online once online payment launches — there's no deadline until then.

Question 18

Can I pause my listing temporarily?

Accepted Answer

Yes — from the host dashboard you can pause any active listing at any time and resume it whenever you're ready.

Question 19

Can I register with a phone number from outside Syria?

Accepted Answer

Yes — at registration, pick your country from the dropdown, then enter your local number without the country code or the leading zero.

Question 20

How do I reset my password?

Accepted Answer

From the login page, choose "Forgot password" — a reset link is sent to your email.

Question 21

How do I report a listing or a user?

Accepted Answer

A report button appears on every listing page once your stay has started, and you can also contact our support team directly at any time.

Question 22

Who do I contact for something not covered here?

Accepted Answer

Our support team is available through the "Contact support" page for anything else.
